Manama: The US Embassy in Bahrain has issued a directive urging all American citizens and government employees residing in the Gulf nation to shelter in place "until further notice."
According to Anadolu Agency, the embassy communicated this advisory through a post on the US social media platform X, explaining that routine consular services have been suspended. The embassy emphasized its active monitoring of the regional situation and assured that updates would be provided as necessary.
The advisory highlighted specific safety measures for Americans, recommending they remain in secure buildings and away from windows. It also advised citizens to stock up on necessities such as food, water, medications, and other essential supplies. The embassy stressed the importance of staying informed by regularly checking email for any further information or urgent updates.
This heightened alert comes as regional tensions have escalated significantly following the offensive launched by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28. In retaliation, Tehran has executed drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These actions have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
