Michigan:US Vice President JD Vance has stated he has not yet decided whether to run for president in 2028, despite being considered a prominent contender to succeed President Donald Trump.
According to Anadolu Agency, during an interview with CBS News' Tony Dokoupil at a town hall in Michigan, Vance admitted that there is a possibility he might choose not to run. He described himself as a procrastinator when it comes to major life decisions, mentioning his family as a significant factor in his decision-making process. Vance noted his wife, Usha Vance, has never been fond of politics but is committed to public service.
President Trump has referred to Vance as his "most likely" Republican successor. Vance defended the current administration's economic and foreign policies, accusing former President Joe Biden's administration of neglecting the manufacturing sector. He acknowledged that reversing this decline would be a gradual process.
Addressing the Iran conflict and high fuel prices, Vance expressed understanding of the public's concerns, stating, "I recognize that gas prices are too high right now." He assured that fuel prices would decrease once the conflict concludes. Vance supported Trump's Iran strategy, claiming the US had achieved significant victories, but cautioned that the outcome also depended on the actions of the adversary. He stated that the US was aiming to secure a firm commitment from Iran not to rebuild its nuclear program.
Additionally, Vance dismissed allegations of corruption involving President Trump, asserting he has not encountered any evidence of such misconduct.
