Vatican Bank Unveils New Equity Indices Aligned with Catholic Ethics

Vatican city: The Vatican Bank, officially known as the Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR), launched two new equity benchmarks in the US and the Eurozone that are "fully aligned with Catholic ethical principles."

According to Anadolu Agency, IOR announced in a written statement the introduction of the "Morningstar IOR Eurozone Catholic Principles" and the "Morningstar IOR US Catholic Principles" indices. These benchmarks were developed in collaboration with Morningstar, a provider of independent investment insights and index solutions. They adhere to market best practices and Catholic ethical criteria, serving as a reference for Catholic investments globally.

The statement emphasized that this initiative is part of IOR's broader commitment to ensuring its investment process aligns with Catholic ethical principles. The Morningstar IOR Catholic Principles Eurozone Index and the Morningstar IOR Catholic Principles US Index each include fifty issuers, focusing on medium- and large-cap companies. They comply with the IOR Investment Policy and are structured to accommodate future developments in ethical Catholic investing.
