The race saw early casualties with Williams' Franco Colapinto and Alpine Renault's Esteban Ocon involved in an incident with Haas' Nico Hulkenberg on the first lap. Additionally, Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez were forced to retire early in the race. In the driver standings, Verstappen leads with 429 points.
