New delhi: The US is in talks with India regarding the sale of Venezuelan oil, as revealed by the US special envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. This was confirmed on Friday during a summit in New Delhi focused on artificial intelligence.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sergio Gor, who serves as both the US special envoy and the ambassador to India, mentioned that the discussions are in “active negotiation,” although certain details have yet to be disclosed. He emphasized that the US Department of Energy is in communication with India’s Ministry of Energy, with the expectation of sharing updates soon.
Last month, US President Donald Trump announced India’s decision to purchase Venezuelan oil as an alternative to Iranian oil, in light of US sanctions on Iran. Trump stated, “India is coming in, and they’re going to be buying Venezuelan oil.”
