White House Denies US Plans to Use Nuclear Weapons in Iran

Washington: The White House on Tuesday refuted reports suggesting that the United States is contemplating the use of nuclear weapons against Iran. This denial comes amid claims that statements made by Vice President JD Vance implied such drastic measures.

According to Anadolu Agency, the White House Rapid Response account took to the US social media platform X to clarify the situation, asserting, "Literally nothing @VP said here 'implies' this." The administration stressed that there are no plans to resort to nuclear options in the ongoing tensions with Iran.

The speculation arose following Vice President Vance's warning to Iran that the US possesses "tools in our toolkit that we so far haven't decided to use." He emphasized that President Donald Trump is prepared to deploy these options if Tehran does not alter its current trajectory. This statement, coupled with President Trump's earlier warning that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," intensified the conjecture as the 8 pm Eastern Time (0000GMT Wednesday) deadline for Iran loomed.
