Yemeni Armed Forces Claim Successful Strikes Against Houthi Group

Taiz:Sanaa Yemen's armed forces announced on Tuesday that they have conducted 1,382 strikes against the Houthi faction, describing the military actions as both "precise and direct."

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Yemeni army's operations resulted in the neutralization of approximately 440 Houthi fighters and commanders and led to new territorial gains in the Taiz governorate in the southwestern part of the country. Col. Majed al-Nuzaili, an army spokesman, shared these details on the US social media platform X.

The military strikes were aimed at various Houthi assets, including field command centers, fortifications, troop concentrations, and supply lines. In Taiz, coordinated airstrikes and ground assaults were carried out by army units and Popular Resistance forces with the support of warplanes. These operations successfully countered Houthi attempts to reclaim lost positions, resulting in strategic advances and enhanced control over key positions.

The conflict in Taiz has been particularly intense, with significant casualties reported on both sides. On the Bab al-Mandab, Dhubab, and Al-Mudhariba fronts, Yemeni forces thwarted Houthi infiltration attempts and disabled their reinforcements and military vehicles. Additionally, offensive operations continued near the capital Sanaa and on the eastern front, supported by armored units and drones.

The operations have targeted multiple Houthi positions to limit their capacity for maneuvering and reinforcement. Al-Nuzaili emphasized that the military actions would persist across various front lines to secure further gains, while measures are being taken to protect civilians and infrastructure.

This escalation in military activities follows a period of relative calm after a truce began in April 2022. The ongoing Operation Dawn of Yemen, initiated on October 5, aims to reclaim state institutions from Houthi control and regain control over Sanaa. The conflict in Yemen has persisted since the Houthis took over Sanaa in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition intervention in support of the recognized Yemeni government in 2015.
