Yemeni Army Claims Neutralization of 1,860 Houthis in Major Offensive

Sanaa:The Yemeni army announced late Wednesday that it had 'neutralized' 1,860 Houthis in 2,103 operations across various fronts as part of Operation 'Dawn of Yemen.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the spokesman for the armed forces, Col. Majid al-Nuzaili, stated that the military executed 2,103 'precision targeting operations' against Houthi positions and movements. These operations reportedly destroyed hundreds of pieces of military equipment and Houthi positions, though al-Nuzaili did not specify the number of Houthis killed or wounded.

Additionally, al-Nuzaili released footage purportedly showing Yemeni forces targeting Houthi movements, fortifications, supply lines, and military positions in the ongoing operation. There has been no immediate response from the Houthis regarding these figures.

Operation 'Dawn of Yemen' was launched this week as Yemeni government forces intensified military activities against the Houthis. The operation aims to reclaim the capital, Sanaa, and restore state institutions from Houthi control, as stated by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi.

The conflict in Yemen began when the Houthis took control of Sanaa and several other provinces in September 2014. This led to a Saudi-led coalition's intervention in March 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
