Taiz:The Yemeni army has announced that its warplanes conducted six airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in the southwestern province of Taiz.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Taiz Military Axis Command made the announcement through two statements on Facebook, a US social media platform. The military aircraft executed three strikes in the Al-Misrakh and Samea districts located in southern Taiz.
The command's second statement detailed three additional strikes targeting Houthi positions on Mount Al-Armah in the Jabal Habashi district, situated west of Taiz. The army has not disclosed specific details about the targets or the potential casualties and property damage caused by these operations.
There has been no immediate response from the Houthis regarding these airstrikes. The military conflict between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis has seen an escalation since July, notably in the regions of Taiz and Lahj, resulting in thousands of casualties and injuries, as reported by the United Nations. Yemen's ongoing war began when the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces in September 2014, prompting a Saudi-led Arab coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
