Taiz:The Yemeni army reported on Saturday that its forces have successfully 'neutralized' 307 Houthi fighters and commanders in a series of 736 operations over the last 24 hours. These operations resulted in the destruction or damage of 68 military vehicles and weapons.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the operations targeted key strategic points, including command centers, troop concentrations, reinforcements, weapons depots, and supply routes as part of the 'Dawn of Yemen' offensive.
The army did not provide specific details on the number of Houthi casualties but confirmed successful strikes in the southwestern Taiz province. Notably, an abandoned hotel, allegedly used by the Houthis as an observation post and firing position, was targeted. The army accused the Houthis of endangering residential neighborhoods and maintaining a siege on the city, prompting government forces to conduct raids to suppress Houthi fire from the area.
The conflict in Taiz remains intense, with government forces maintaining control over the city center, while the Houthis have recently gained ground in rural and coastal regions.
Since 2014, Yemen has been mired in conflict following the Houthi seizure of the capital Sanaa and other provinces. This prompted a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government. Currently, the Houthis control much of northern and western Yemen, while government forces and their allies hold Aden and large parts of the southern and eastern provinces.
