Yemeni Army Targets Houthi Ammunition Depot in Al-Dhale Province

Washington: The Yemeni army targeted a Houthi ammunition depot and gathering with a drone in Al-Dhale province, southwestern Yemen, on Friday. This operation took place at the al-Firdaws checkpoint near the southern entrance to Damt, as reported by the official Saba news agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, an unnamed military source from Saba confirmed the strike on the ammunition depot and the Houthi gathering. However, the source did not provide specific details regarding casualties or the extent of damage inflicted by the attack. The Houthi forces have yet to respond to the claims made by the Yemeni army.

In recent weeks, military tensions have significantly escalated in Yemen, with clashes intensifying between the government forces and the Houthi rebels. The Houthis have maintained control over several provinces and key cities, including the capital, Sanaa, since their takeover in September 2014.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen involves a complex regional dynamic, where the Saudi-led coalition supports the government forces, while the Houthis are alleged to receive backing from Iran. In a recent development, the Houthis announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia in July, further escalating the situation in the region.
