Aden:Yemeni authorities announced that the Houthi group launched ballistic missile attacks targeting several key locations in Aden, including the Aden International Airport, a port in the al-Tawahi district, and two coast guard facilities.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Yemeni Information Ministry noted renewed missile strikes on the airport and port, sharing this information on the social media platform X. However, details regarding casualties or damage were not disclosed.
The Interior Ministry reported that two ballistic missiles were directed at the coast guard headquarters within the ministry's compound, with a third missile targeting a coast guard building in the al-Tawahi district. No casualties were reported from these attacks.
Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree alleged that the group targeted a military gathering at al-Nasr camp and a naval military base in Aden. He further claimed that Saudi officers, led by Brig. Gen. Badr Salah al-Harbi, were overseeing military preparations against the Houthis. Saree warned Yemenis against joining forces mobilized by Saudi Arabia, but did not mention the airport attacks or specify the weapons used.
The Interior Ministry highlighted that these strikes followed previous attacks on civilian and essential facilities in Aden, including ballistic missile and drone assaults on the international airport. The ministry cautioned that such actions threaten the city's security and stability, endanger civilians, and impact institutions providing public services.
The Yemeni government, supported by Saudi Arabia since 2015, controls Aden and significant parts of the southern and eastern regions, while the Houthis hold the capital Sanaa and much of northern and western Yemen. The recent escalation between government forces and the Houthis has intensified since July, following the collapse of a 2022 ceasefire.
