Taiz: Yemeni government forces carried out strikes on Houthi positions in the southwestern Taiz province and downed a drone in neighboring Lahj province on Wednesday, while the group fired ballistic missiles toward the coastal Ras al-Ara area.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Yemeni Armed Forces' media center reported that forces from the 4th Military Region targeted Houthi positions, barracks, and personnel on the Al-Kadha front, located west of Taiz. This area has been a focal point of repeated fighting in recent days as government forces aim to secure the strategically important road linking Taiz with the Red Sea port city of Mokha in western Yemen.

The West Coast news website, affiliated with Yemen's Joint Forces, later detailed that airstrikes targeted a Houthi camp near Al-Rubaie quarry, west of Taiz city. The strikes successfully destroyed military vehicles and triggered explosions at weapons storage facilities inside the camp.

State-run Aljoumhouriya TV, citing local sources, reported that warplanes targeted Houthi gatherings in the Al-Rahbah area of Jabal Habashi district, also located west of Taiz. Additionally, military sources referenced by the West Coast website confirmed that government forces shot down a Houthi drone in the Al-Mudarabah sector of Lahj province.

In a separate development, the sources noted that the Houthis fired ballistic missiles targeting the Ras al-Ara area in Lahj. Despite these aggressive actions, no casualties have been reported thus far.

The Houthi group has not immediately issued a comment regarding these reports. The confrontations between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis have escalated since early July, following a broader escalation between Yemen's internationally recognized government and the Houthi group, after a period of relative calm brought about by a UN-brokered truce in April 2022.
