Red Sea: The Yemeni Houthi group announced on Tuesday that it has attacked the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, marking the third such assault within 48 hours. This escalation comes amidst heightened tensions in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that the group also targeted a US destroyer in response to US airstrikes on Yemen. Saree emphasized that the United States bears full responsibility for the consequences of increasing military activities in the Red Sea and broadening the confrontation's scope.

He further warned that the continuation of US airstrikes on Yemen could negatively impact international maritime navigation. These developments follow a new wave of US airstrikes on Monday, aimed at an iron factory in Yemen's coastal province of Al-Hudaydah.

More than 50 individuals lost their lives, and nearly 100 others were injured in US airstrikes over the weekend. US President Donald Trump issued a warning, indicating that severe consequences would follow if the Iranian-backed Houthi group continued its attacks on Red Sea shipping lanes.

The Houthis have been targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden using missiles and drones since late 2023. This campaign has disrupted global trade and is purportedly conducted in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

The group had paused its attacks following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in January. However, it threatened to resume hostilities when Israel blocked all aid into Gaza on March 2.
