Zambian President Praises Turkish Counterpart for Stability Efforts in Eurasia.


Lusaka: Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema commended Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his contributions towards peace and stability in the Eurasia region. Hichilema expressed gratitude for Turkey’s steadfast support in Zambia’s developmental sectors, including health, tourism, education, and media. These remarks were made during Istem Circiroglu’s farewell visit to the State House in Lusaka as she concluded her diplomatic mission to Zambia and Malawi.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hichilema acknowledged the critical role played by Erdogan, the Turkish government, and its people in stabilizing the Eurasia region, emphasizing the global importance of peace, security, and stability. He noted Turkey’s significant efforts to stabilize the region, facilitate trade through the Black Sea, and address issues involving Russia, Ukraine, and migration. Hichilema also looked forward to an upcoming state visit to Ankara.

Zambia’s admiration for Turkey’s economic development and corporate business sector was
highlighted, with Hichilema expressing eagerness to learn and share best practices. The Zambian leader stressed the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, rooted in democratic values, good governance, rule of law, and respect for human rights. He also acknowledged Turkey’s expanding partnership with Africa through trade and investment.

Istem Circiroglu noted that trade between Zambia and Turkey currently stands at $52 million, with potential for further growth in trade and cooperation. She affirmed Turkey’s commitment to being a reliable partner to Zambia across various fields, including trade, business, and educational exchanges, as both nations work towards a better future.
