Zelenskyy Announces Azerbaijan’s Condemnation of Russian Attack on Kyiv Embassy

Jakarta: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev condemned Russia’s recent large-scale strike that resulted in damage to Azerbaijan’s embassy building in Kyiv. Zelenskyy communicated this information following a conversation with Aliyev, during which both leaders discussed the incident and its implications.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy shared via social media that the attack involved ‘hundreds of drones and missiles’ launched at Ukraine overnight, leading to casualties and extensive damage. He noted that Aliyev expressed his condolences and highlighted that this incident was not the first time Russian forces had targeted the Azerbaijani embassy and related sites.

Zelenskyy further mentioned that in their discussion, both leaders explored bilateral relations and the advancement of their partnership, emphasizing that cooperation with Baku remains unhindered. He described their collaborative efforts as having a ‘green light across all areas.’

Earlier reports from Zelenskyy indicated that debris from an Iskander missile targeting Kyiv struck the Azerbaijani Embassy. The attack saw approximately 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aeroballistic types, which damaged numerous residential buildings in the capital and affected several regions.

In addition, Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov reported that 731 strikes occurred across 20 settlements, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. Meanwhile, Russia claimed that 216 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight in multiple regions and over the Black Sea.
