Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the approval of a new command structure designed to enhance Ukraine's short-range counter-drone air defense, focusing on protection against Russian drone assaults on urban and border areas. The initiative aims to bolster defenses in response to ongoing threats.

According to Anadolu Agency, in a statement on Telegram, Zelenskyy emphasized that the decision was made during a high-priority meeting dedicated to improving counter-drone air defense within the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The meeting led to the approval of new management strategies and critical tasks for both the Air Force and the Defense Ministry.

Zelenskyy identified the first priority as enhancing the defense of cities like Kherson and Nikopol, as well as border communities in the Sumy region. He described these areas as targets of an ongoing campaign by Russian forces, characterized by daily attacks on civilian infrastructure and transportation.

The second priority involves expanding efforts to counteract Russian attack drones, including 'shaheds.' Zelenskyy announced plans to establish additional layers of defense and protection to mitigate these threats.

As a third priority, Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of sharing the successful strategies of experienced units across Ukraine's defense forces. He advocated for the broader application of effective solutions to strengthen overall defense capabilities.
