Washington: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday announced that several draft documents have been prepared following recent talks between Kyiv and Washington. In a statement on the US social media platform X, Zelenskyy revealed details of the meeting with Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, who provided a report on their productive work with American counterparts.

According to Anadolu Agency, the discussions involved working with envoys of former President Donald Trump, resulting in the preparation of draft documents. These documents focus on security guarantees for Ukraine, recovery plans, and a basic framework for ending the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Zelenskyy emphasized that these documents aim to contribute to ending the nearly four-year conflict and preventing future hostilities.

Zelenskyy stated that each round of negotiations and meetings plays a crucial role in safeguarding Ukraine's interests. He expressed gratitude to European partners for their support and coordination and highlighted the importance of continuing the dialogue with Washington. He underscored that diplomacy must be accompanied by necessary pressure on Russia and support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy had earlier mentioned on X that Ukraine's negotiating team was returning from Miami after completing talks, ensuring that all possible preparations for the initial drafts had been completed. He noted that while the core elements of the documents are ready, certain aspects remain contentious for both Ukraine and Russia. The Americans are continuing negotiations with Russian representatives, and feedback is awaited.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also wrote on X about the productive and constructive meetings held in Florida with American and European negotiators. A separate US-Ukraine meeting focused on key documents, including a 20-point plan for Ukraine's security and prosperity. Additionally, meetings were held with Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev to advance President Trump's peace plan for Ukraine.

These meetings are part of ongoing negotiations since November, concentrating on a peace framework to end the Ukraine war, based on a refined draft proposal by the US.
