Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said that he and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever discussed joint defense production and investment during the Belgian premier's visit to Kyiv.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy stated that representatives from ten Belgian defense companies accompanied Prime Minister De Wever on his visit. The discussions focused on joint weapons production and investment in manufacturing on Ukrainian soil, which Zelenskyy emphasized as beneficial for the whole of Europe.

The Ukrainian president announced that three agreements with Belgian manufacturers had been finalized, with documents being signed alongside Ukrainian producers. He also welcomed a new pound 1 billion ($1.09 billion) defense package from Belgium, highlighting its importance in protecting lives and enhancing defense capabilities. Zelenskyy noted that this contribution strengthens Europe's collective potential to deter hostile activities.

Zelenskyy further acknowledged Belgium's consistent support of Ukraine through military, political, and humanitarian means since the onset of Moscow's war on Kyiv. He emphasized that the cooperation is grounded in a shared sense of justice, recognizing the legitimacy of Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression.
