Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged the United States to officially recognize Russia as the "aggressor" in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, underscoring the strategic importance of Washington as a partner in Kyiv's struggle.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized the United States' role as a mediator in the conflict but stated that Ukraine views the US as a strong strategic ally with significant influence. He expressed the desire for the US to leverage this influence against Russia, highlighting the need for a mutual understanding that Russia is the aggressor in the conflict.

Zelenskyy acknowledged the approach of US President Donald Trump, who has been seeking a different resolution path. While respecting Trump's efforts, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine does not wish for Washington to seek a balance in its stance, urging for a clearer position on Russia's role in the conflict.

The Ukrainian president also detailed Ukraine's transparency with the US regarding weapon systems, pointing out the technological improvements made by Ukrainian experts in collaboration with US partners. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine has consistently reported its usage and advancements in weaponry to the US, which has provided Washington with crucial insights into future investment needs based on the experiences of the largest land war in recent years.

He highlighted the development of new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as part of the $105 billion in US aid, explaining that these advancements were achieved through joint efforts of scientists, intelligence, and military engineers from both countries. Zelenskyy emphasized that these developments have provided the US with valuable knowledge and experience that were previously unavailable.

The Ukrainian leader concluded by affirming that the US has received comprehensive information about these new technologies, signifying a significant military-technical advancement resulting from the ongoing conflict.
