Ankara: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday claimed that Ukrainian drones killed or wounded more than 30,000 Russian soldiers on the front line in July.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy, in an evening address, stated that Russia is losing about 30,000 troops each month on the battlefield. He reported that during July, Ukrainian units on the front destroyed 30,272 Russian soldiers using drones, which includes those killed and seriously wounded. He supported his claim with military data and video evidence.
Regarding potential negotiations with Russia, Zelenskyy mentioned that Kyiv is maintaining daily communication with US President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine's readiness for all formats of discussions and anticipates increased activity from Witkoff and Kushner in August.
Zelenskyy also highlighted Ukraine's collaboration with other international partners, specifically Gulf countries, to bolster its diplomatic efforts and security requirements.
Russia has not responded to these claims, which remain unverified due to the ongoing conflict. Earlier this year, under US mediation, Russia and Ukraine engaged in three rounds of peace talks in January and February to seek a resolution to the conflict that has persisted for five years. However, negotiations have been suspended as both Moscow and Kyiv cite US priorities on Iran and the Middle Eastern conflict that started on February 28 as reasons for the pause.
