Odesa: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that a civilian vessel was damaged in the port of Chornomorsk during a Russian missile strike on the Odesa region. "Today's Russian strike, like many others before it, had no - and could have no - military purpose whatsoever," Zelenskyy stated on Telegram. He emphasized that the incident demonstrates Russia's reluctance to engage in diplomatic efforts seriously.

According to Anadolu Agency, the missile strike also targeted Odesa's energy infrastructure. Zelenskyy mentioned previous discussions with former US President Donald Trump regarding the situation in Odesa. The attack involved ballistic missiles and drones, leading to multiple explosions in the Odesa region and prompting air defense responses.

Explosions were reported in Chornomorsk and various parts of Odesa as targets were detected from the Black Sea, local news service Dumskaya reported. Residents were advised to remain in safe locations due to ongoing drone activity in the area. Further explosions were reported, indicating the continuation of the attack.

Reports from Ukrainian media indicated that a civilian container ship caught fire at the Odesa port following the shelling. However, official details on damage or casualties have yet to be released. The Odesa region is a significant hub for Ukraine's maritime trade and grain exports.
