Washington: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his extensive conversation with US President Donald Trump could help bring the Russia-Ukraine war "closer to an end." The dialogue, lasting more than two hours, focused on battlefield positions, long-range capabilities, air defense, and diplomatic possibilities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy communicated through Telegram about the potential impact of the discussion, emphasizing the key issues covered, including strategies on the battlefield, enhancing air defense, and exploring diplomatic avenues. He highlighted the need for Russia to cease its aggression and expressed hope that the United States would maintain pressure on Moscow.

Zelenskyy's talks with European and NATO leaders further underscored the importance of transatlantic cooperation. He shared insights from his conversation with Trump, aiming to protect lives and enhance security across Europe. Discussions were held with leaders from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Finland, Norway, and Poland, along with the European Union and NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Ukrainian president also noted the upcoming coordination meeting of national security advisors from the involved countries, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support and solidarity shown towards Ukraine.

The dialogue between Trump and Zelenskyy followed their meeting at the White House, where the Ukrainian leader supported Trump's suggestion for Moscow and Kyiv to halt hostilities and initiate negotiations. Zelenskyy described the meeting as productive, with discussions covering air defense, weapons production, and potential exchanges involving Tomahawk missiles and Ukrainian drones.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed that both Kyiv and Moscow are inclined to end the war, announcing plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary to discuss a potential peace agreement.
