Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Saturday that he engaged in discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to enhance Ukraine's energy resilience. The talks encompassed a NATO initiative aimed at consolidating allied contributions to Ukraine, which has been severely affected by ongoing conflicts. Zelenskyy also shared details of a recent phone conversation with US President Donald Trump.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy took to Telegram to reveal that he informed Prime Minister Carney about the current battlefield situation and the impact of Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The discussions focused on specific measures to bolster Ukraine's defenses and energy system resilience.

Zelenskyy acknowledged Canada's significant contribution to the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative. The initiative seeks to streamline allied support, placing Ukraine in a stronger position. He expressed optimism about expanding Canada's involvement in this program.

The Ukrainian President also highlighted the importance of cooperation within the Coalition of the Willing, indicating plans to enhance the practical aspects of this collaboration. He expressed gratitude to Carney for his commitment to working across various areas.

Earlier, Zelenskyy reported a 'very productive' conversation with President Trump, during which he congratulated Trump on securing a ceasefire agreement in the Middle East. Zelenskyy expressed hope that similar efforts could help end the conflict in Ukraine.

In his call with Trump, Zelenskyy emphasized the recent Russian airstrikes on Ukraine's energy facilities and welcomed US support in strengthening Kyiv's air defenses. He conveyed optimism about existing options and ideas to reinforce Ukraine's position, while urging Russia to engage in genuine diplomatic efforts.
