Zelenskyy Engages in Talks with UK National Security Adviser on Continued Support for Ukraine

Ankara: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said he discussed continued support for his country with UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell. In a statement on US social media company X after meeting Powell in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, Zelenskyy said his country is grateful to the UK for its decision regarding a new support package worth nearly £290 million ($385 million).

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of international recognition of Ukraine's achievements on the front lines and the success of their mid-range and deep strikes. Zelenskyy and Powell also addressed the current battlefield situation in Ukraine, the state of Ukrainian regions under Russian control, and the conditions in Russia amid fuel restrictions.

Discussions extended to preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara, focusing on diplomatic efforts to achieve peace. Zelenskyy highlighted the exploration of potential strategies to revitalize the diplomatic process and considered possible formats for future negotiations.

Last week, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced the new support package aimed at Ukraine's recovery and energy security during the latest Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Gdansk, Poland.
