Amman: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Jordan on Sunday on an unannounced visit, saying he plans to discuss security issues with Jordanian counterparts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy stated on Telegram that the discussions would center on security and coordination with partners. He emphasized that security is the most important priority and highlighted the necessity for all partners to make the necessary efforts, with Ukraine contributing significantly.

Zelenskyy noted that since the onset of the US/Israel-Iran conflict in the Middle East, numerous countries in the region have requested Ukraine’s assistance in countering Iranian drones. The regional tensions have intensified following an offensive by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28, which resulted in the death of over 1,340 people, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These actions have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.

Zelenskyy recently visited Saudi Arabia to discuss similar security issues. After the visit, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha announced that another country had joined the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, although he did not specify which one. The PURL initiative, launched last July, is a NATO program allowing allies to fund the purchase of US weapons and equipment for Ukraine.
