Zelenskyy, NATO Chief Rutte Discuss PURL Initiative, Air Defense Funding

Munich: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Munich to discuss the funding and expansion of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which facilitates the purchase of missiles for air defense systems, his office said.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of every country's contribution to the PURL initiative, highlighting the need for continued funding to acquire missiles necessary for the air defense systems. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

During the discussion, Zelenskyy and Rutte explored ways to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities through joint ventures in Europe. Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude for the meeting held in the Ramstein format, where partners confirmed the allocation of pound 38 billion in military aid for Ukraine.

At the annual forum, Zelenskyy described European unity as a key factor against threats. He also stated that elections in Ukraine would only be feasible two months following a declared ceasefire with Russia.
