Zelenskyy Proposes Energy Truce with Russia

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv has proposed a mutual halt to attacks on the energy sector with Russia. He stated that if Russia agrees to stop strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukraine would reciprocate. This proposal has been communicated through the United States to the Russian side.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy highlighted that Ukraine is engaged in substantive discussions with the American side on developing documents, preparing proposals, and strengthening the framework for security guarantees. He stressed that security guarantees are crucial for ending the war, achieving lasting peace, and establishing the necessary political and legal conditions to conclude the war and build public trust in the process.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of ongoing communication with the United States, noting that Kyiv maintains daily contact at multiple levels to ensure progress. He acknowledged the prevailing skepticism towards diplomacy in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine, and he pointed out that the outcome of the diplomatic process depends on the participation of all involved parties.

Earlier this year, Russia and Ukraine engaged in several rounds of peace talks mediated by the United States. However, the process was interrupted following the US decision to launch a military operation in the Middle East.
