Zelenskyy Proposes Joint Defense Shield with Poland Against Russian Threats

Warsaw: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, proposed a collaborative defense initiative with Poland and other partners to counter Russian aerial threats. He highlighted Moldova's recent pro-European election results as a significant setback to Moscow's influence.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's capability to counter various drones and missiles and stressed the potential for collaboration, quoting Polish writer Jerzy Giedroyc: "Without a free Ukraine, there can be no free Poland." He congratulated Moldova's pro-EU PAS party for its victory in the parliamentary elections, interpreting it as a triumph for European ideals and stable national development.

Zelenskyy noted Russia's failure to destabilize Moldova despite significant efforts to undermine it. He urged continued support for Moldova's capital, Chisinau, contrasting Moldova's situation with that of Georgia and Belarus, where Russian influence has grown.

He also brought attention to suspected airspace violations in Poland, Estonia, and Romania, suggesting that Russia was testing boundaries and diverting attention from its ongoing war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy cautioned against skepticism regarding support for Kyiv, asserting that most security threats in Europe stem from Russia's actions and the war initiated by President Putin.

In response to Moscow's denials of any airspace violations, Zelenskyy pressed for expedited actions on frozen Russian assets, proposing their use for Ukraine's defense and reconstruction.

He expressed gratitude to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for supporting Ukraine's EU aspirations, stating that Kyiv's membership is integral to Europe's broader security framework.
