Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the approval of new long-range strikes on Russian territory as a countermeasure to recent attacks by Moscow on Ukraine.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy's decision followed consultations with Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara and Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi. The discussions also led to plans for updating management approaches and enhancing the system for responding to challenges within Ukraine's Medical Forces Command after a leadership change. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of expanding successful practices from combat brigades and brigade patronage services across the Defense Forces.

Zelenskyy also addressed the need to revise the regulatory framework for the recruitment of foreign volunteers into Ukraine's military. He confirmed the approval of new long-range operations to bolster Ukraine's defensive capabilities in response to Russian aggression.

The Ukrainian President revealed that effective methods have been developed to counter Russian jet-powered drones, with efforts underway to deploy these methods and increase their production. Zelenskyy, along with the Commander-in-Chief, identified further priorities for active operations on the front lines.

The statement also highlighted a report from Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) chief Oleksandr Poklad, which noted positive results from military counterintelligence activities against jet-powered drones. A new interceptor drone has been successfully developed and deployed, contributing to Ukraine's defense efforts.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen an increase in strikes targeting logistics centers, ports, and energy infrastructure, with both sides insisting their attacks are focused on military-related targets.
