Beirut: Ten people were killed and three others injured Thursday in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon as the ongoing offensive enters its second month.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported that four people were killed and three others were wounded in a strike on the town of Ramadiyeh in the Tyre district. In another incident, the state-run National News Agency confirmed that three individuals lost their lives after a two-story building was hit in the town of Kfarsir. Additionally, a municipal council member and two of his family members were killed when Israeli warplanes struck a four-story building in the town of Zebdine.
Israeli warplanes also conducted several strikes on the towns of Yater, Harouf, and Zebdine, resulting in the destruction of several homes. Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelling targeted numerous areas, including Siddiqine, Jabal al-Batam, and Zebqine, as well as the outskirts of the towns of Shaqra, Wadi al-Slouqi, Mansouri, Majdal Zoun, Wadi al-Hamra, and Hamoul, and the vicinity of Qalaat Dabiya. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from these shelling incidents.
The National News Agency further observed that Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were flying intensively over the Tyre area. In northern Lebanon, an explosion was heard in the Batroun area, although the cause was not immediately known. Smoke was seen rising from forested areas between the towns of Asia and Nahla, but no further details were available.
Lebanon's Health Ministry stated that the ongoing Israeli offensive, which began on March 2, has resulted in 1,318 deaths and 3,935 injuries. This offensive followed a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, prompting Israel to launch a ground and air assault on Lebanon.
The attacks have heightened regional tensions since Israel and the US initiated a joint offensive against Iran on February 28. This offensive has led to over 1,340 deaths, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
