Ankara: Turkish security forces "neutralized" 14 PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Syria, the country's National Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday. The operation took place in the Operation Peace Spring zone, as reported by the ministry on the social media platform X.

According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply that the terrorists in question surrendered, were killed, or were captured. This latest action is part of Trkiye's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

Since 2016, Trkiye has conducted a series of effective anti-terror operations in northern Syria, including Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019). These operations aim to thwart the establishment of a terror corridor and ensure the safe resettlement of local residents.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Trkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has been engaged in a 40-year campaign against Trkiye. This campaign has resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 individuals, including women, children, infants, and the elderly. The YPG is recognized as the Syrian branch of the PKK.
