US Fed Maintains Interest Rate at 4.25%-4.5% Amid Economic Growth

Washington: The US Federal Reserve kept the benchmark policy rate at 4.25%-4.5% on Wednesday, as widely expected. This decision reflects the central bank's ongoing assessment of economic indicators, which suggest that recent economic activity has maintained a steady pace, and the unemployment rate remains stable at a low level.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Federal Reserve emphasized in its statement that inflation continues to be somewhat elevated. The bank reiterated its firm commitment to supporting maximum employment and achieving its inflation goal of 2%. The rate, which had been at a historically high level of 5.5% from July 2023, was gradually reduced over the last three meetings to reach the current rate of 4.5%.
