ISTANBUL: The Dow Jones industrial average closed at a new record-high level on Monday, while US stocks finished the day on a higher note. The blue-chip index, which includes 30 prominent American companies, rose 210 points, or 0.53%, to end the session at 40,211. It climbed to a fresh all-time high of 40,351.10 points during the day. The S and P 500, meanwhile, added almost 16 points, or 0.28%, to close at 5,631 and the Nasdaq gained 74 points, or 0.4%, to 18,472. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 5.4% to 13.13. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 1% to 4.227%. The dollar index increased 0.12% to 104.22, while the euro decreased 0.08% to $1.0897 against the greenback. Precious metals were mixed, with gold adding 0.24% to $2,422 per ounce but silver decreasing 0.3% to $30.70.
