A delegation of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) discussed issues related to energy, infrastructure, technology, industry and tourism, during a visit to Qatar where its members met with government and business leaders of the country. According to a CCCI press release, following the official visit of the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Cyprus last May, the Chamber paid a visit to the country, with the aim of further strengthening bilateral business relations, in the framework of promoting economic diplomacy. The press release added that the Chamber's delegation, led by its President, Stavros Stavrou, met with top government and business leaders in Qatar, exchanging views and exploring opportunities for cooperation. It is noted that within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the Vice President and representatives of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) CEO, the Qatar Financial Corporation (QFC) CEO and other important financial agenc ies. According to the press release, discussions focused on energy, infrastructure, technology, industry and tourism sectors, areas in which both countries have strategic interest and potential for development. It is added that the delegation also held a meeting with Cypriot businessmen operating in Qatar with the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus. It is also noted that the CCCI President expressed his satisfaction over the warm welcome and stressed the importance of cooperation with Qatar, underlining that "Cyprus is a gateway to Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, offering significant investment opportunities.
