Riyadh: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that he will not attend the upcoming Second Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, citing a busy schedule. This announcement was made public by the state-run news agency IRNA, highlighting the ongoing diplomatic engagements between Iran and Saudi Arabia. According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian communicated with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman via phone, discussing bilateral relations and expressing optimism for enhanced cooperation between the two nations. During their conversation, Pezeshkian confirmed that Iran's First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, will represent Iran at the summit. He also expressed confidence that the summit, under the guidance of the Saudi crown prince, will yield concrete results aimed at stopping the actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his understanding of Pezeshkian's situation and conveyed his best wishes to their Iranian counterparts. He noted that Saudi-Iran relations are at a significant turning point and expressed hope for elevating bilateral relations to new heights. The call for the summit was initiated by Saudi Arabia on October 30, inviting Arab and Islamic nations to gather in Riyadh on November 11. The summit aims to address the ongoing Israeli actions in Palestinian territories and Lebanon, as well as to discuss current regional developments.
