Istanbul: Palestine should continue to improve its trade relations with all neighboring countries, particularly with Trkiye, which is the first and most important trade partner for Palestine, the Palestinian ambassador said Wednesday. Speaking at the World Halal Summit in Istanbul, Faed Mustafa highlighted the strengthening relationship between Trkiye and Palestine and emphasized the summit's role as an important opportunity for commercial cooperation. According to Anadolu Agency, the four-day summit, where Anadolu is the global communication partner, hosts seminars focused on halal-related topics to raise awareness. Mustafa pointed out the severe challenges faced by Palestine, noting the ongoing humanitarian crisis exacerbated by prolonged conflict and occupation. He urged global solidarity, stressing the obligation to support the Palestinian people in their quest for dignity and freedom. Mustafa extended gratitude to nations and individuals who stand with Palestine, recognizing their efforts in expressing solidarity and resistance against occupation. He highlighted the economic struggles faced by Palestine, including the theft of resources due to economic and political settler policies, which hinder industrial and trade development. He emphasized that these challenges not only impact Palestine but also have broader repercussions on the global trade system. The ambassador noted Palestine's significant natural resources and wide range of halal products, suggesting their potential contribution to the global halal trade. In response, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat echoed Mustafa's sentiments on social media, affirming Trkiye's commitment to supporting Gaza and Palestine against Israeli policies. Bolat reiterated Trkiye's political, economic, and trade support, emphasizing exemptions granted to Palestine while halting commercial transactions with Israel. Trkiye's stance was further demonstrated on May 2, 2024, when it suspended all export and import operations with Israel, condemning its actions against Palest ine as violations of international law and human rights. Bolat highlighted Trkiye's continued support by hosting Palestine as a partner country at the Halal Expo in Istanbul, reflecting a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
