US, France, Germany, and UK Urge De-escalation in Syria Amid Renewed Clashes.

Washington: The governments of the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have jointly called for a de-escalation of violence in Syria, emphasizing the protection of civilians amidst growing tensions in the region. According to Anadolu Agency, the joint statement, released by the US Department of State, urges all parties involved to prevent further displacement and ensure unhindered humanitarian access. The statement comes in response to renewed hostilities between Assad regime forces and armed anti-regime groups, particularly in the western countryside of Aleppo. The statement underscores the urgent need for a Syrian-led political resolution to the conflict, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254, which provides a framework for peace in Syria. The governments stress the importance of safeguarding civilian lives and infrastructure to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The recent escalation follows a surprise offensive by anti-regime groups, marking a resurgence of conflict after a period of relative calm. The civil war in Syria, which began in 2011, has seen intermittent periods of intense fighting, with the latest clashes reigniting concerns over the stability and safety of affected regions.
