Israeli Army Opens Fire Toward Homes in Naqoura Town Despite Cease-Fire.

Naqoura: The Israeli army on Monday morning opened fire toward the town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon, marking the latest violation of the cease-fire that was established last week. According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army was reported to have opened bursts of machine-gun fire, contributing to a series of cease-fire breaches. An Anadolu count revealed that on Sunday alone, the Israeli army committed 11 violations by targeting southern Lebanese towns, which has brought the total number of violations since the November 27 cease-fire to 73. The reported violations by the Israeli forces include the destruction of homes, artillery shelling, warplane overflights, gunfire, incursions, and the bulldozing of roads and agricultural lands. These actions have occurred despite the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, which was intended to halt the cross-border warfare between Israeli forces and Hezbollah following the Gaza war. The terms of the truce stipulate that Israel will withdraw its forces sout h of the Blue Line de facto border in a phased manner, while the Lebanese army is expected to deploy its forces in southern Lebanon within 60 days. However, ongoing violations threaten to destabilize the fragile peace. Lebanese health authorities have reported that more than 3,960 people were killed and over 16,500 injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since last October, underscoring the severe humanitarian impact of the conflict.
