Midway Atoll: The world's oldest known wild bird, Wisdom, a Laysan albatross, has laid an egg at the remarkable age of 74, as confirmed by US biologists. This extraordinary event took place at the Midway Atoll national wildlife refuge in the Pacific, where Wisdom was observed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) alongside her current mate, who is responsible for caring for the egg. According to Anadolu Agency, Wisdom was first tagged in 1956, when she was approximately five years old. Despite belonging to a species that typically lives between 12 and 40 years, Wisdom has surpassed expectations with her longevity and continued fertility. Her most recent chick hatched in 2021, and it is estimated that she has successfully raised over 30 chicks during her lifetime.
