KYIV: German Development Minister Svenja Schulze arrived in Kyiv on Thursday to deliver Berlin's winter aid package to Ukraine, as the country braces for colder months amid ongoing conflict. Schulze emphasized the critical nature of energy supplies, which she claims are being targeted by Russian airstrikes, aiming to leave Ukrainians without heat and light. According to Anadolu Agency, Schulze highlighted the strategic attacks on energy infrastructure by Moscow, asserting that the intent is to force Ukrainians to endure harsh conditions without adequate heating and electricity. She stated that Germany has mobilized additional resources to assist in rebuilding and maintaining vital energy supplies, underlining the importance of these efforts for the survival of the population. Schulze expressed her intention to ensure the effective allocation of the aid and to assess further needs on the ground. Her visit follows a previous announcement by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who pledged an additional £200 million in winter aid to support Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.
