NEW YORK: US stocks displayed a mixed performance on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq Composite reaching a historic milestone by closing above the 20,000-point mark for the first time. According to Anadolu Agency, the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a decline of 99.27 points, or 0.22%, to conclude at 44,148.56. In contrast, the S and P 500 saw an increase of 49.28 points, or 0.82%, closing at 6,084.19. The Nasdaq Composite advanced significantly, gaining 347.65 points, or 1.77%, to end at a record 20,034.90. Shares of Tesla, the US electric car manufacturer, surged to an all-time high, closing at approximately $425, which marks a 5.9% increase from the previous day. Meanwhile, the VIX volatility index, often referred to as the "fear index," decreased by 4.23%, settling at 13.58. In the commodities market, precious metals showed a mixed trend. Gold saw an increase of 0.9%, reaching $2,718.07 per ounce, while silver declined by 0.65%, priced at $31.6965 as of 2217GMT.
