CETINJE: A gunman opened fire in the town of Cetinje, Montenegro, killing 12 people, including two children, following a brawl at a bar. The 45-year-old suspect, identified as Aco Martinovic, targeted friends and relatives before taking his own life, according to officials. The tragic series of events unfolded across multiple locations on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Police Chief Lazer Scepanovic reported that Martinovic appeared to have been heavily intoxicated during the shooting spree. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while being transported to the hospital. Authorities confirmed that four additional victims were injured but are currently in stable condition.

Prosecutor Andrijana Nastic detailed that the attacks took place at five separate locations in the Bajice area of Cetinje. Martinovic initially killed four individuals at a bar, followed by four more at a second site. At the third location, two siblings aged 10 and 13 were fatally shot, and one person was killed at both the fourth and fifth sites.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajic noted that the initial incident was triggered by a brawl at the bar, where pistols were drawn. Local media had previously reported Martinovic's detention for illegal weapons possession, raising concerns about his access to firearms.

In response to the incident, the Montenegrin government declared three days of national mourning. President Jakov Milatovic described the event as "a tragedy," highlighting the profound impact on the community.
