Oil Tanker Explosion in Southern Nigeria Claims Four Lives

Agbor: Four people were killed when a petrol tanker exploded in southern Nigeria, an official said on Monday. The tragic incident occurred in Agbor town, located in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, causing significant damage to nearby buildings and vehicles.

According to Anadolu Agency, the explosion on Sunday was triggered by a fallen 33,000-litre diesel tanker. Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, confirmed the details on X, stating that immediate action was being taken to support the victims. In response to the disaster, Oborevwori directed the Health Ministry, the state emergency management agency, and other relevant authorities to expedite aid for those affected by the explosion.

Nigeria has witnessed several catastrophic tanker explosions in recent years, resulting in numerous fatalities. One of the deadliest incidents occurred on October 16 of last year in Jigawa, North Western State, where an oil tanker explosion claimed the lives of at least 150 people and injured over 200 as they attempted to collect oil.
