LGBT Issue Used as ‘Battering Ram’ Against Family, Says Turkish President Erdogan

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that gender-neutralization policies utilizing LGBT as a "battering ram" negatively impact "the family and the sanctity of the family institution."

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan made these remarks while introducing the "Year of Family" in Ankara. He emphasized the necessity of safeguarding children and young people from "harmful deviant ideologies" that he argued pose a threat to families and societal structures. Erdogan asserted that it is the shared responsibility of nations to protect these values.

Erdogan expressed concern about the dissemination of content that, he claimed, consciously promotes LGBT and gender-neutralization trends. He criticized these policies for gaining traction, particularly within gender-neutralization strategies, and reiterated his stance that Trkiye actively opposes these ideologies on global platforms, including the UN General Assembly.

He highlighted Trkiye's firm position on the matter, stating, "The primary goal of the gender neutralization policies, in which LGBT is used as a battering ram, is the family and the sanctity of the family institution." Erdogan assured that Trkiye would continue to fortify its stance and would not retreat from this position, regardless of external opinions.
