Gaza City: The Palestinian group Hamas has declared that Israel has not succeeded in achieving its objectives in the war on the Gaza Strip. This announcement comes in the wake of the Israeli government's consent to a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hamas issued a statement asserting that the Israeli occupation did not meet its aggressive objectives and only managed to commit acts that they refer to as war crimes. The group pointed out that the operation carried out by Palestinian factions on October 7, 2023, showcased the unity among Palestinians and challenged the enemy's stance.

Hamas further stated that they compelled the Israeli forces to halt their aggressive actions and withdraw, despite efforts by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to extend the conflict. The group vowed to ensure that those responsible for crimes against Palestinians will be held accountable.

Hamas also emphasized its commitment to providing relief, shelter, and aid to its people, as well as facilitating the return of displaced families and rebuilding efforts in the region.

Qatar announced a ceasefire agreement to halt over 15 months of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 0630 GMT.

Local health authorities report that nearly 47,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, with over 110,700 injured since the conflict began on October 7, 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders for alleged war crimes, and Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
