Defending champion Sinner defeated Danish Holger Rune, seeded 13, with a score of 3-1 in a match that lasted three hours and 13 minutes, ending with the set scores of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and 6-2 at Rod Laver Arena.

According to Anadolu Agency, Italian player Lorenzo Sonego also advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating American Learner Tien 3-1, with set scores of 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, and 6-1. This marks Sonego's first time advancing to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament in his career. In the quarterfinals, Sinner is set to face the winner of the match between Alex Michelsen and Alex de Minaur, while Sonego will meet the winner of the clash between Gael Monfils and Ben Shelton.

In women's singles, American Madison Keys secured her spot in the quarterfinals by defeating 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, with set scores of 6-3, 1-6, and 6-3. Ukraine's Elina Svitolina also advanced, beating Russian Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets, and is set to face Keys in the quarterfinals.
