Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to sign "close to 100" executive orders on his first day in office, primarily aiming to reverse policies from the Biden era. Trump has described his new administration as taking over "disasters" on both domestic and international fronts, including issues such as inflation, high interest rates, and a significant border crisis. During a rally in Washington, he promised to address these challenges with "historic speed and strength."
According to Anadolu Agency, Stephen Miller, Trump's incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, briefed senior congressional Republicans about the executive orders on Sunday. US media sources reported that the briefing provided an overview of the planned actions, with more detailed announcements anticipated in the days ahead.
In a related development, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is expected to have its roles and responsibilities formally defined. The department will be led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and biotech investor Vivek Ramaswamy.
Miller further elaborated that Trump plans to overturn federal diversity, equity, and inclusion policies enacted by the Biden administration, alongside rescinding gender-related executive orders. The incoming administration is also expected to declare a national emergency centered on energy, with the goal of boosting domestic production by easing industry regulations and speeding up the permitting processes for energy projects.
