Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Ankara on Monday. Erdogan welcomed Fico with an official ceremony at the presidential complex, followed by bilateral discussions between the two leaders.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting included delegation-level discussions and concluded with a signing ceremony and a joint press conference. A formal dinner was also scheduled to further strengthen diplomatic ties. The relationship between Turkey and Slovakia has been historically significant, with Turkey being one of the first countries to recognize Slovakia's independence following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993.

Economic relations between the two nations have seen substantial growth. Direct Slovak investments in Turkey amounted to $32 million from 2002 to mid-2024, while Turkish investments in Slovakia during the same period totaled $12 million. In a move to bolster economic collaboration, the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) was established in February 2024.
