Beijing: China on Tuesday urged the US to listen to rational voices and provide a non-discriminatory business environment to all entities operating in the country. Responding to a question on US President Donald Trump's signing of an executive order to delay the TikTok ban by 75 days, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that TikTok has been operating in the US for many years and is popular among American users.
According to Anadolu Agency, Guo Jiakun emphasized the importance of the US providing an open, fair, and just business environment for all market entities, regardless of their country of origin. Guo highlighted TikTok's role in promoting domestic employment and boosting consumption within the US.
The spokesperson also stressed that business operations and acquisitions should be independently decided based on market principles. Guo added that any involvement of Chinese companies in such actions should comply with Chinese laws and regulations.
On Monday, President Trump signed an executive order aimed at delaying the ban on TikTok, a move that follows the US Supreme Court's decision on Friday to uphold a law that would ban TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, divests from the app.
After experiencing service disruptions earlier on Sunday, TikTok announced efforts to restore services to its US users, following assurances from President Trump.
